Alton Wang

Secretary

Alton Wang was elected to the governing board of the Pasadena Area Community College District in June 2022. He represents Trustee Area 7, which includes parts of the cities of Temple City and Arcadia.

Alton is a second-generation son of immigrants educated in public schools in Arcadia. His parents are proud former students at Pasadena City College, an institution that gave them opportunities to learn English, earn credits towards a four-year college degree, and apply their learning to start small businesses that serve our neighborhoods. They are Alton’s inspiration. Their success story is the story of so many San Gabriel Valley residents who strive to achieve the California Dream — and education was their foundation.

Currently, Alton is a legal advocate for expanding voting rights and working towards fairer representation to guarantee that all Americans have equal access to their right to vote. He also serves on the board of the Arcadia Parks Foundation, and has formerly served on the boards of organizations focused on professional and civic development for young leaders and advocating for underserved communities.

Previously, Alton served as a policy advisor in Congress, where he worked to advance issues including expanding access to higher education, pushing for immigration reform, and addressing the healthcare needs of our communities. In his efforts to increase civic engagement amongst underrepresented communities, he led efforts to drive record voter turnout in California and across the nation as a community organizer.

Alton earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Sociology from Wesleyan University. He earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law with a focus on public interest law.
